MAY

Much has been going on within the ranks of the club, since the announcement of our change of venue in January. Membership has continued to grow and is now drawn from a fairly wide catchment area around Adderbury/Deddington and the surrounding villages, but also extends to include members from Banbury, Chipping Norton, Bicester, Tadmartin, Balscote and Shipston.

Progress has been made on the equipment front with the purchase of a projector and visualiser imminent.

Work is well under way with regard to the organisation of our two annual exhibitions in Adderbruy and Deddington, and a number of opportunities for external shoots have been discussed and some even implemented, such as the outing to Broughton Castle.

All in all, it has been a promising start to the year.

JANUARY

During the past few weeks the committee had been giving serious thought to the question of our meetings venue.

Over the past three or four months, we have been regularly attracting an average of thirty members to the meetings, and during one meeting we had three people viewing the proceedings from the stairs. I think all will agree that with those sort of numbers seated in the conference room at The Deddington Arms, it becomes a little too crowded for comfort.

Bearing in mind that the membership is now into the mid forties, and rising, it is clear that our time at The Deddington Arms Hotel has run it's course.

A search for an alternative venue was commenced before Christmas, and numerous options in both Adderbury and Deddingtion were considered, and for one reason or another dismissed.

We were conscious of the need to address three specific areas :

1. The venue needed to be large enough

2. The club could afford it, and

3. It would be nice to retain access to refreshments

After a deal of effort, l am pleased to announce that an alternative has been found that matches all of the above :

1. The venue will seat sixty

2. It's free, so we can afford it, and

3. You will have access to refreshments.

On behalf of the Committee, l am pleased to announce that with effect from the February meeting, our new venue will be :

The Apricot Conference Room, at the Cartwright Hotel, Aynho.

For those of you who do not know the Cartwright Hotel, it sits on the main road that runs through Aynho, and can be easily seen from the road. The Apricot Room can be accessed by driving through the main archway into the car park, and is just beyond the Reception entrance.
